Sim Race SA announces 2020.1 championship season plans, sign-up now open!

Jason Holden-Jones, Sim Race SAs Esport Co-ordinator, has confirmed the plans for the new 2020.1 South African simulation racing championship season. The season will kick off on 27 January 2020 and end on 10 June 2020.

The 2020.1 season will see the addition of the Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) simulation to join the very well established, and successful, Assetto Corsa (AC) championships run by Sim Race South Africa. While maintaining it’s own championship status the SA simGT Series has been split into two sub-championships; the SA Simulation GT Challenge (GTc) using AC, and the SA Simulation Intercontinental GT challenge (iGTc) using ACC. The sum of points scored in GTc and iGTc will make up the SA simGT Series points for the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships.

The multiple division grids for both GTc and iGTc will be determined firstly by the Drivers’ Championship finishing order from the 2019.2 season, thereafter the grids will be determined by the current 2020.1 standings.

The SA simGP Series will see a change of car to the ‘free to own’ Formula 3 specified RSS 3 developed by Race Sim Studios and will feature a revised format developed by Ryan Hill.

Who will challenge 2019.2 SA simGT, and simGP, Series Drivers’ Champion Jim Clark? It could be you…  All sim racers, novice and experienced, are welcome to sign-up for the new season by visiting the 2020.1 Sign-up page or by submitting the form below:
