Five way SA simGT Series Drivers’ Title fight to be decided at Mugello final round

SA simGT Series

The 33 entry strong 2016 SA simGT Series will come to an end on Monday evening 28 November 2016, this after the current drivers’ championship standings sees the remaining five championship contenders separated by just 33 points, the top four by just eight points.

Defending Drivers’ Champion and AGBS’ Boyd Bryson, Revlimit Racing’s Jonathan Mogotsi, AGBS’ Gert James, Trigon Racing’s Gabriel Rossouw and Peter Van Vuuren will be going all out to win the endurance round final at Mugello. With a small points deficit of six points and a ballast adjustment of just 40kg, James will be the targeted man around the 5,2km circuit. The championship contenders are also expected to come under pressure from the rest of the highly competitive field. Should the championship end in a tie, the highest number of wins will determine the Drivers’ Championship winner, Mogotsi leads that statistic with six victories this season so far.

The class for amateur drivers (GT-AM)  is too very close, Revlimit Racing’s Gerrit Crafford will have it all to do to maintain his 17 points advantage over RC Fanatix’s Shiraz Dada.

The Teams’ Championship is also yet to be decided, Trigon Racing trails Defending Champions AGBS by just 35 points, with 100 points to play for. In the Trigon Tooling Consistency Cup, Rossouw leads by 23 points with James, Bryson, Van Vuuren and HRTs Mark Henebury still in the cup race.

The race will be available for viewing from Friday 02 December 2016 on the Sim Race South Africa’s Youtube channel.
