AGBSs Gert James went on to not only claim his maiden SA simHTC Series victory, but to also win the second race at the Nürbugring GP circuit. The results from the Nürburgring mean, with four rounds remaining, the top four drivers are separated by just six Drivers’ Championship points.
James started his #102 Alfa Romeo with the comfort of his teammate Boyd Bryson behind him, the two AGBS drivers made a break from the rest of the field when Ichor Racing’s Brent Lindsay-Rae took a stand against AM-Class leader and Stormfront Racing’s Russell Meyer. Lindsay-Rae successfully defended throughout the half way stage to provide great racing throughout the rest of the field.
AGBS crossed the finish line to claim the teams second HTC 1 -2 finish. After off track moments for Meyer and Linday-Rae, Revlimit Racing’s Jason Absmeier worked his way passed his teammate Jonathan Mogotsi and all the way to third position before race end.
It was again an AGBS 1 – 2 start for Race 2, however this time Bryson was not able to escape the chasing pack. After scrambling to defend from Mogotsi, Bryson ran too deep into the NGK Chicane dropping down to fifth position behind Absmeier.
James crossed the finish line to win Race 2 by an impressive 13 seconds, Meyer won his race long battle with Mogotsi to claim his season best finish of second position overall.
In the HTC-AM class, Meyer took both victories while Stormfront Racing’s Eugene Niewoudt, Torque Dirty Racing’s Damian Halket, and M2 Racing’s Amrish Seunarain enjoyed podium position finishes.
Mogotsi continues to leads the overall Drivers’ Championship by just three points ahead of tied Ichor Racing’s Lance Garassino and Bryson. James trails Mogotsi by just six points. AGBS narrowly leads Revlimit Racing in the Teams’ Championship. Team JVC 2.0s Gerrit Crafford leads the GT-AM Drivers’ Championship ahead of Halket, and Team JVCs Victer de Kock.
James comfortably dominates to secure SA simHTC Nürburgring double victory
