The highly respected and well known sim racing team; GhostworX Racing will run two Audi R8 LMS Ultras to spear head their attempt at winning the 2016 SA simGT Series.
GhostworX Racing’s Team Principal; Basheer Jadwat, during the teams’ 2016 launch at the Nordschleife, announced the decision to switch from the all BMW Z4 GT3 entry last season to the Audi option.
Jadwat, also one of the teams’ drivers, confirmed Markus Steyn as his teammate for yet another season. Both Jadwat and Steyn enjoyed a successful 2015.2 SA simGT Series. Jadwat secured six victores and shared a further more seven podium finishers with Steyn, the results netting overall 1st and 2nd Overall Drivers’ Runner-up Championship results and narrowly loosing the Teams Championship by just 22 points. The team has also changed their livery from what was seen in 2015.2, dropping the yellow, blue and white combination in favor of a red, black and white combination for 2016.
Jadwat is known for his love of German cars and enjoying taking out his ‘tuned babies’, as he puts it, to Killarney race circuit in Cape Town for track days or just to show the immaculate condition they are in. Jadwat considers himself a perfectionist when it comes to cars and specifically simulation racing, making him a very calculated driver on the virtual circuit.
Steyn, is a through and through petrol head, prefers naturally aspirated cars, especially the American Muscle style of the motoring world, and is very much looking forward to, with his track day weapon, attacking the newly renovated Kyalami racing circuit in Johannesburg.
Steyn, ever since the Gran Turismo release in 1997, is a long time simulation racing enthusiast, and despite being starved of championship victories in 2015, has proved a very fast and consistent driver and looks to 2016 as the year to end his victory drought.
Jadwat and Steyn share a long history as teammates, having paired up in the past as team X-Ray and last season as Squadro GhostworX. Pairing up for a third time for 2016, they both feel the unfinished business that stemmed from a very successful season for championship rivals AGBS. AGBS claimed all simGT championship titles in 2015.2.
GhostworX Racing have stated they are fully motivated and ready to give their all to claim the SA simGT championship titles in 2016, and surely must be regarded as one of the championship favorites.
The championship will kick off at Donington on 01 February 2016. With 24 drivers already sign-up for the championship, all newly interested parties, who would like to enter the championship, are welcome to email Jason: firstname.lastname@example.org
