The penultimate race of the 2015.1 SA simSS3 Series, at the Nürburgring GP circuit, was won by Basheer Jadwat (Squadro GhostworX). His victory, and with just one race left, places him just five points shy of current drivers championship leader Mark Henebury (HRT).
A good pole position start for Jadwat saw him comfortably maintain his position, behind him Gabriel Rossouw (Revlimit Racing JNR) came under increasing pressure from Henebury. On the opening lap, Henebury realised an early opportunity to move alongside Rossouw at Turn 11 , however a slight braking error by Henebury saw him kiss the right rear wheel of Rossouw’s car hard enough to pitch the HRT into a high speed spin. Rossouw was lucky enough to keep the car balanced without a loss in position. Markus Steyn, without warning, was unfortunate to add to the scene of the accident by collecting Henebury in the process.
After the significant opening lap incident, Chris Heyneke (HRT) found himself in third position not far behind Rossouw. Henebury immediately started to fight his way back up the field, finding his way past Brent Lindsay-Rae at Turn 11 and an impressive move to out brake Bjorn Buchner at the NGK Chicane saw him move up into fourth position by lap 4 of 11.
Lap 7 saw Markus Steyn begin his offensive on Heyneke’s third position to finally make his pass at Turn 1. Later an error by Heyneke saw his teammate Henebury move up to fourth position.
Jadwat lead the race flag to flag to claim his fifth win of the season, ahead of solid drives by Rossouw and Steyn for second and third positions.
