SS1 Round 3: Trigon Revlimit Racing 1-2 at Spa, Absmeier clinches drivers title

Jason Absmeier (Trigon Revlimit Racing), with a victory of the final round at Spa-Francorchaps, won the 2015.1 SA simSS1 Series drivers championship.

Absmeier started from pole position to briefly lead before Basheer Jadwat (Squadro GhostworX) passed him under braking for Les Combes.  An opening lap hard fought battle for third position between Jonathan Bentz (Squadro GhostworX) and Peter van Vuuren (Trigon Revlimit Racing) came to an end when Bentz suddenly pitched the number 55 car into a wild spin to tag van Vuuren in the process.

After the Bentz/van Vuuren incident, Johannes Coetsee (Shadow GhostworX) and Yasteel Ragubeer (Phantom GhostworX) found themselves in third and fourth positions respectively. Then on lap three the Bentz/van Vuuren battle resumed, this time van Vuuren was able to quickly pass Bentz under braking for La Source. Unfortunate errors for both Ragubeer and Jason Holden-Jones (H-J Motorsport) at Compass dropped them down the order.

Jadwat showed impressive pace to increase the gap back to Absmeier until a spin by him, on lap 6 and similar to what Bentz experience, gifted the race lead to Absmeier, and Coetsee second position.

Coetsee also showed impressive pace to firstly move away from van Vuuren and secondly to close the gap Absmeier, and challenge him for the race lead. Later Coetsee went on at Eau Rouge ruining any chance of a race victory, this saw van Vuuren move up into second position

After the pit-stop phase was completed, Absmeier was left unchallenged to claim race victory and at the same time the 2015.1 SS1 driver’s title. van Vuuren’s second position helped Trigon Revlimit Racing to win the Team’s Championship.
