GTS Round 2 Race 2: Jadwat strikes back to secure Imola victory
Basheer Jadwat (Squadro GhostworX) claimed victory of race two of 2015.1 SA simGT Sprint round at Imola
The start of the race left Jadwat unchallenged for the race lead, however the winner from race one, Boyd Bryson (Xtreme Racing), followed close behind.
After a mix-up at Turn two, Mark Henebury (HRT) emerged in third place ahead of the BMWs of Juan Liebenberg (Phantom GhostworX) and Chris Browne (Shadow GhostworX). With a better exit out of Tamburello, Browne was able to run alongside Liebenberg and out-brake him into the following Villeneuve corner. The battle continued as Liebenberg fought back to out-brake Browne at Rivazza.
Then just moments later Jonathan Bentz (Squadro GhostworX) joined the fray to try and run around the outside of Browne on the approach to Traguardo, Browne now boxed in unfortunately locked his brakes to spin Liebenberg and run wide into the gravel trap. Bentz escaped the dust storm to the fourth position ahead of the close fight between Yasteel Ragubeer (Phantom GhostworX), Chris Heyneke (HRT) and Philip Lategan (MSR). Lategan went on to bring the lone Mclaren home in fifth.
The race ended with Bryson unable to maintain his unbeaten Imola run. Jadwat, this time without error, drove flag to flag to secure his third win of the season.
