2015.1 SS3 Round 1: Jadwat claims back to back victories
Basheer Jadwat (Squadro GhostworX) won both races of the opening 2015.1 SA simSS3 Series round at Silverstone.
A difficult start to race 1 for Jadwat saw him drop down to 3rd position before Abbey (turn 1) . Jadwat quickly fought back by running around the out side of Jason Holden-Jones (H-J Motorsport) at Village Corner (turn 2), to position himself for a pass at The Loop (turn 3). Jadwat now had the task of chasing down teammate Jonathan Bentz.
With good drive down Wellington Straight, Ken Hunter out-braked Chris Heyneke (HRT) for 4th position. An off track moment for Heyneke allowed Marius van Wyk (Deltec Racing Team) passed into 5th.
Then on lap 2 an error by Bentz saw him breifly drop down to third before re-passing Holden-Jones at Stowe.
The top 3 positions would remain unchanged for the rest of the race to see Jadwat claim victory of race 1.
Heyneke produced a good start from pole position in race 2, however Holden-Jones was able to claim the lead with a pass at Stowe. Jadwat soon joined the squabbling front runners to first pass Heyneke under-braking for Brooklands, and then Holden-Jones two laps later on entry to Maggotts Corner. Heyneke was lucky not to sustain damage when Holden-Jones lost control at Chapel Corner, the same could not be said for Bentz who had no where to go but into the side of the #74 H-J Motorsport entry.
An unscheduled pit-stop for Heyneke saw Holden-Jones move to 2nd position with an ever closing Bentz behind him. Holden-Jones and Bentz enjoyed a 3 lap sprint to see Holden-Jones successfully defend his 2nd position to the end.
Marius van Wyk won his battle against Hunter and teammate Riaan van der Westhuizen to secure 4th position.
