SS3 Round 12 Race 2: Perfect result for Jadwat at Spa season finale, Rautenbach wins duel for 2nd

Basheer Jadwat (Squadro GhostworX) won the final race of the 2014 SA simSS3 Series held at Spa-Francorchamps.

Jadwat started well from pole position to beat both the GhostworX 3.0 cars of Chris Browne and Markus Steyn into La Source (turn 1).

Dean Rautenbach (Hippo Rock Racing) kept pace with the front 3 drivers to pull away from the Marius van Wyk (Xtreme Racing). Steyn went to 2nd when Browne went wide at Les Combes slowing him just enough for Steyn to fly around the outside line. Browne tried to fight back, by running up the inside line, at the following Bruxelles corner but it was to no avail.

Lap 2 saw the squabbling for 2nd allowed Rautenbach to enter the fray, and with light contact between Browne and Steyn, Rautenbach was perfectly positioned to nab 3rd from Browne under braking for the Chicane. After Browne conducted a voluntary drive through penalty for the incident with Steyn, the battle for 2nd was soon joined by Marius van Wyk (Xtreme Racing).

Rautenbach soon after passing Steyn for 2nd.

Rautenbach kept in close quarters behind Steyn until he was close enough to use the slip streaming effect down Blanchimont to execute a move at the Chicane under braking. Then at Eau Rouge, Steyn entered a high speed spin to drop him back to 5th behind Browne.

Jadwat continued his season dominance to secure a perfect final round. Rautenbach claimed a season best 2nd ahead of van Wyk.

“I made a reasonable start and maintained position all the way to Les Combes with Chris not far behind. I was able to just keep ahead of Chris for a few laps until he made a slight mistake which dropped him back. I used this to break from the guys behind and then just brought it home ahead of what looked to be a fantastic battle with Dean/Marius/Chris and Markus. Well done to Dean and Marius for their epic podiums!” says Jadwat

“In conclusion, I’d like to thank Jason for the time and effort spent in making the champs a great success. Thanks to all the guys who raced in the series, it was an absolute pleasure sharing the track with you okes. Bring on 2015 !!!”
