Basheer Jadwat lead a Squadro GhostworX one-two finish at Mugello to clinch the 2014.2 SA simGT Series Team Championship.
Good starts for both Squadro GhostworX cars of Jadwat and Jonathan Bentz allowed them to easily take control of what would be their Team Championship title decider. By the end of the opening lap the two front running cars had opened up a healthy gap back to 3rd place battle between Markus Steyn (Rebel GhostworX).
The mid-field experienced a chaotic start when a mix-up caused a 8 car pile at San Donato (turn 1) , reshuffling the order right down to the last positions. Jade Dafel (Nexus Racing) and Chris Browne (GhostworX 3.0) stayed ahead of the mayhem to make it a 3-way battle for 3rd with Steyn, until Dafel peeled off into the pit-lane to serve his drive through penalty from the previous round at Imola.
On lap 8 Marius van Wyk (Deltec Racing) found himself in a Nexus Racing sandwich fighting for 5th position. The three cars put on a great battle until van Wyk went wide at Luco (turn 2) allowing Dafel through to 6th position. One lap later Boyd Bryson in the Xtreme Racing Mercedes would replace van Wyk and bring along Juan Liebenberg (Team Ryoku) for the continued battle for 5th.
With Jadwat’s 6th win of the season and Bentz finishing in 2nd, Squadro GhostworX is the 2014.2 SA simGT Teams Champion.
