SAGT Round 2 Race 2: Jadwat edges Mitchell in race long close fight
A closely fought battle between Basheer Jadwat (Squadro GhostworX) and Denis Mitchell (SH Racing) was the order of a very exciting Race 2 of Round 2 of the 2014.2 SA simGT Series.
A clean start by the entire field saw no change in position during the opening stages of the race. The first change for position came when Boyd Bryson (Xtreme Racing) out-braked Jonathan Bentz (Squadro GhostworX) into the NGK Chicane for 4th position. Up the road at Turn 15, with what must have been his best chance of the race, Mitchell could not take advantage of a compromised Jadwat . Jadwat quickly closed the door to lay to rest any possibility of a move from Mitchell.
Following an opening lap spin Jade Dafel (Nexus Racing) was not able build on his impressive debut in Race 1. Teammate Nazeem Edwards was in the thick of it however pressuring Rebel GhostworX’s Markus Steyn for 6th position. By lap 4 of the race two significant groups had developed. Juan Liebenberg (Team Ryoku) stayed in touch with Jadwat and Mitchell, and the fight for 4th was hotting up between Bryson, Jonathan Bentz (Squadro GhostworX), Steyn and Edwards.

An error by Bryson allowed Bentz back through for 4th position.
An error by Bryson exiting the Warsteiner-Kurve allowed Bentz to slip by without resistance for 4th. Bentz did well to close the gap to 3rd placed man Liebenberg but unfortunately ran out of laps before a move for position could be attempted
With his double victory in Round 2, Jadwat leads the Overall Drivers Championshop by 19 points ahead of Mitchell. Quintin Haarhoff leads the AM Cup and Boyd Bryson the Gentlemans Trophy.
