SS3 Round 3 Race 2: Jadwat dominates chaotic race

Basheer Jadwat (Squadro GhostworX) stayed clear of all the action behind him to win race 2 of round 3 of the South African simSS 3 Series.

The start saw Jadwat do well to maintain his lead into Traliccio (turn 1). In a collection of attacking moves Jason Absmeier (Revlimit Racing) and Denis Mitchell (SH Racing) exchanged positions on 3 occasions through 3 corners before it ended in tears as Absmeier span Mitchell causing a traffic jam at  Tarnantino (turn 4) .  Steven Pelser (Revlimit Racing) took advantage of the carnage to nab 2nd away from teammate Absmeier.

Opening lap incidents also included Yasteel Ragubeer (Team Ryoku) who braked far too late slamming into the back of the GhostworX 3.0 car piloted by Markus Steyn. Juan Liebenberg (Team Ryoku) did the same this time crashing into Chris Browne (GhostworX 3.0) who in turn ended Ben Wheeler’s (NAV Gaming) race.

After the opening lap drama Johannes Coetsee (JVR GhostworX) and Robert Hart (NAV Gaming), who started from 13th and 9th position on the grid, found themselves in 4th and 5th. Coetsee and Hart moved up further positions when Pelser spun at Monte Sperollo (turn 8).

Willem van Zyl (JVR GhostworX) engaged in a 2 lap long fight with round debutant Ken Hunter (Xtreme Racing), van Zyl finally managed to out-brake Hunter into Traliccio for 8th. Next up for van Zyl was Chad Cook (SH Racing), pressure by van Zyl led to Cook making an error to run wide and comprise his exit onto the main straight. Van Zyl capitalised on the error and past him before Traliccio.

In a comedy of last lap errors Absmeier had to relinquish his 2nd position as he could not out free wheel teammate Pelser to the finish line. Absmeier ran out of fuel before the last corner of the race. Steyn too had an issue spinning the #35 GhostworX 3.o car on the last lap, and in an attempt to maintain his 4th position result decided to reverse over the finish line, however it was not to be as Coetsee and van Zyl beat him to the line.

Jadwat overcame his race 1 misfortune to dominate race proceedings and claim his 3rd win of the season.
